Nothing is better than having your bread freshly baked, warm, soft, buttery - ready to melt in your mouth. This naan bread recipe yields 9 dough balls, which can be enjoyed as a solo serving size to dip into your stews, soups, hummus, yogurt, wraps on the go, or personal pan pizza dough. You may also combine 2+ dough balls for a pizza flatbread. See our other recipes that incorporate the beautiful homemade bread from this one.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Proof Your Yeast: In a large bowl, proof your yeast. Combine the warm water, packet of yeast, and sugar. Stir and let it sit about 5 minutes.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Beat in your egg, then add your oil, salt, garlic powder, greek yogurt, and flour. Leave roughly 2 tablespoons of flour aside for later prepping of your rolling pin and board. Stir into a rough mix then begin kneading to properly combine all ingredients.
  3. Let it Rise: Wet a towel, squeeze out the water, and set it on top of the bowl. Wait 30-40  minutes and check back. You want to wait until your dough has doubled in size. It should go from about a grapefruit to a cantaloupe in size.
  4. Uncover and Cut into 9 equal sections, 9 dough balls.
  5. Roll it Out: Use the remaining flour as needed to prep you rolling pin and the board. This will ensure your dough doesn't stick to the surface.
  6. Give it a Gentle Pull: After rolled out, gently pull at it with your fingers as well to spread out the naan dough as much as it naturally will allow.

Stove Top: Turn on your stove top and wait for it to get warm.
  1. Coat both sides of the dough in butter and fry it about 5 minutes on both sides.
  2. Repeat for all 9 dough balls to made a stack of naan.
  3. You can use it as a premade personal pan pizza bread, to dip in hummus, eggplant dishes, wraps, you name it... this bread is absolutely delicious all around.

Oven:

  1. For a pizza flatbread, you may combine 2-3 dough balls as you see fit for amount of people, roll it out, butter or olive oil both sides and cook it in the oven on a baking sheet with foil at 428 F for 4 min each side, then and additional 5-8 minutes with all pizza toppings.
